Final FRCA Teaching

Final FRCA teaching is undergoing a change! Based on feedback from residents and faculty, finals teaching in academic year 2025/2026 will rotate between OUH and DGHs across the region. The sessions will be held roughly monthly rather than the 3rd Wednesday as previously. We hope that this will improve curriculum coverage as well as attendance but are open to feedback! 

A timetable of the full academic year will be published here once confirmed.

For the remainder of 2025:

17th September - Reading - Obstetric anaesthesia, anaesthesia for emergency surgery, regional anaesthesia

15th October - Oxford - Neuroanaesthesia, neurocritical care, neuroradiology & IR, anaesthesia for head and neck surgery

14th November - Academic Centre, Milton Keynes - Audit, research & QI methods, resuscitation and transfer medicine, geriatric anaesthesia, day case anaesthesia

17th December - Oxford - Vascular surgery, tertiary obstetric anaesthesia, major haemorrhage

There are many courses available across the country for the Final FRCA Written and Structured Oral Examination. A Final FRCA SOE Course is held in Oxford, run by consultants Dr Annie Smith, Dr Amisha Burumdayal, Dr Anika Sud and Dr Maria Rivero-Bosch.

The next course dates are 12/13th Dec 2025.
